What is a phobia
An anxiety disorder characterised by avoidance behaviours.

Selective attention- dangerous threats can be distracting
Irrational beliefs- may have thoughts which lack a basis in reality
Cognitive distortions- unrealistic and disproportionate.
Knowledge their fear is irrational

Specific phobia (arachnaphobia)
Social phobia (Humilliation)
Agorophobia (not being able to escape)
What is depression
A mood or effective disorder. Prolonged and fundamental disturbance of mood and emotion. 1 in 5 adults.
Features of clinical depression
- Poor appetite or increase in appetite
- Difficulty sleeping or over sleeping
- Energy loss
- Body slowed or sped up
- Loss of interest or pleasure in usual activities
- Feelings of self reproach or guilt
- Inability to think clearly or concentrate
- Thoughts of death or harm

What is OCD
An anxiety related condition, Person receives frequent intrusive and unwelcome obsessional thoughts with compulsions.

Compulsive, ritualistic behaviours, avoidance

Cognitive characteristics of OCD
Obsessions. The persistant, uncontrollable thoughts, awareness the thoughts are irrational.
