urban land value service definition
the spatial variations in land values or rents within the built up area created by the bidding process
how many urban processes are there??
4
agglomeration
people are drawn into the newly emerging towns as new businesses are set up
suburbanisation
people move out of the congested core into areas of lower density development
urban regeneration
the revival and modernisation of old and run-down urban areas
urban regeneration develops brown field sites:
land that has been used and abandoned and is now awaiting new use
suburban intensification
suburbs become more urban as a result of increasing building densities, introducing non-residential activities and developing remaining open spaces
agglomeration, regeneration and intensification are
centralising in character. they help to maintain the compactness of an urban area
suburbanisation is counterurbanisation
it is decentralising causing the urban area to spread outwards
