She thinks women are made weak by being gentle and kind. Asking the spirits to ‘unsex me’ is important because she wants become like a man so that she can commit evil.
How does the way she speaks change over the course of the play?
At the beginning she speaks confidently in verse. By the end of the play her speech is long mad ramblings and repetitions, showing that she has gone mad.
What is it that drives her mad in the end?
Guilt. She doesn’t struggle with it at the beginning of the play, but by the end, she is wracked with guilt about what they have done.
Is she a typical women of the Jacobean era?
No. She influences and even dominates Macbeth.
