Law related to the relationship carried out between people and the various government departments, boards and agencies.

Laws governing relationships between private individuals and individuals and organizations
Constitutional Law
The Constitution of Canada is the supreme law in Canada. It outlines Canada’s system of government and the jurisdictional authority between the provinces and the federal government.
OVERRIDES ALL LAW
PUBLIC LAW
Contract Law
Law that governs arrangements between businesses or between people and businesses.
BRANCH OF CIVIL
Criminal Law
Law intended to prohibit and punish behavior that harms others. Only the government (crown attorney) can lay a criminal charge.Can only be passed by the federal government
PUBLIC LAW
Distinguishing a Case
Identifying a case being different and enough to justify another decision
International Law
Laws that deal with how nations interact. Use treaties, International Court of Justice (ICJ)
Jurisdiction
area that you have power over
Procedural Law
Explains how substantive law will be enforced.
Property Law
Regulates ownership rights in all property.
BRANCH OF CIVIL
Public Law
Deals with interactions between the government and its citizens.
Statute Law
Laws which come from elected representatives. Passed in the form of an Act
(a legal document codifying the result of a legislative body)
Substantive Law
Defines the legal rights/duties of citizens and government
Tort Law
Holds persons/organizations responsible for damage they cause another person.
