When did slave codes become law?
Early 1700’s.

More laborers & immigration. Mostly it was the ability to reproduce.

A major slave uprising. Normally slaves don’t revolt against the whites in that way.
What happened in Salem?
Tensions in the Puritan communities created bizarre situations like claiming certain women were witches.
What was the enlightenment?
“God created earth based on science and math.” Encouraged people to focus more on science and math instead of religion.
Causes and effects of great awakening?
Religion was fading. In 1730’s, a new wave of religion was brought back, new divisions of the church. Jonathan Edwards was a preacher and encouraged people to get bak to the church
What important precedent did the John Zenger trial set?
The precedent that you can criticize the government, as long as you speak the truth.
What were the reasons for loose British control prior to 1763?
It was inconvenient

That they were not united and very separate from each other.
Causes and effects of the French and Indian war?
Causes - English and French settlements expanded, commercial and religious tensions arose. French shared with natives. French offered tolerance. French and Iroquois came together, and fought against English colonies
