Chapter One Flashcards
What is Gross Anatomy?
Can be seen with the naked eye, Examines large visible structures
What is systemic anatomy?
Organ systems
What is cytology?
Study of cells
What is histology?
Study of tissues
What is pathological physiology?
Effect of diseases
What is the cellular level in order?
Atoms,molecules,organelles,cells,tissue,organ,organ system,organism
What are signs?
Measureable disease ex:heart rate
What are symptoms?
a subjective disease such as pain
What is supine?
lying down,face up
What is prone?
lying down,face down
What is the mediastinum?
Central region of the thoracic cavitiy
What is the visceral layer?
Lines the exterior of the organs inside the body
What is the Parietal layer?
Lines the walls of the cavities (outer/walls)
What is the paritoneal cavity?
With the abdominpelvic cavity(contains most digestive organs)
What is homeostasis?
All body systems working together to maintain a stable internal enviorment or equilibrium
What is dynamic equilibrium?
physiological system are continually adapting and adjusting to changing conditions
What is autoregulation?
automatic response and control within a cell, tissue,or or organ to some enviornmental change
What is extrinsic regulation?
Control that is mediated by nervous system or endocrine system
What is a receptor?
Receives the stimulus and sends signal to control center
What is the control center?
recieves the signal, processes, and sends instructions to effector
What is the effector?
carries out instructions sent by control center
What is negative feedback?
Response of effector opposes or negates original change caused by stimulus (corrects change or elimantes change)
What is the positive feedback?
Produces response that amplifies or accelerates original change(causes more change)
