Emphasized femininity
A set of socially constructed ideas about “model womanhood” organized around accommodating the interests of men and the patriarchy
Subordinate heterosexual femininity
Concept of the existence of strictly two genders: male and female
Gender binary
A person’s internal sense of gender
Gender identity
Members of North American Native and First Nations tribes socially seen as distinct; not categorized as male or female or any similar categories
Two-spirit individuals
Formed around the private, domestic sphere
Cult of domesticity
Cleaning, making meals for family, childcare
