Chapter C2- gr8 revision Flashcards
What are concentric circles?
Circles that have the same midpoint
Different radii
What is a sectant?
Two lines intersecting
What is a bisector?
One line intersects another exactly in the middel
What are Parallel lines?
two or more lines that are always the same distance apart and will never cross each other
What are Perpendicular lines?
A line is perpendicular to another line if it forms a 90 degree angle with the other line
What is an acute angle?
an angle greater that 0 degrees but smaller than 90 degrees.
What is a right angle?
an angle equal to 90 degrees
What is an obtuse angle?
an angle greater than 90 degrees but smaller than 180 degrees
What is a straight angle?
an angle equal to 180 degrees
What is a reflex?
an angle greater than 180 degrees but smaller than 360 degrees.
What is a revolution?
an angle equal to 360 degrees
What are the conditions for two angles to be adjacent
- must have a common vertex
- must have a common arm
- the two angles must lie on either side of the common arm
What are complementary angles
angles with a sum of 90 degrees
What are supplementary angles
angles with a sum of 180 degrees
Angles on a straight line
the sum of adjacent angles on a straight line is 180 degrees
