Q

What is Cardiac Output? What is the average range for males and females?

A

Q = HR x SV
- Untrained M: 22
- Untrained F: 18
- Trained M: 34.2

Q

What is the Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) and its formula? What are systolic and diastolic blood pressure and their normal ranges?

A
  • MAP is the average pressure during a cardiac cycle. Determines the rate of blood flow through systemic circuits
  • DBP + 1/3 (SBP - DBP); units are mm Hg
  • Systolic: pressure generated as blood is pumped from the heart
  • Diastolic- ventricular relaxation
