Workshop
A smaller room made available for seminars or workshops at a conference.
Break Out Room
An event sponsored by a government organization, an example would be Remembrance Day.
Civic Event
A large meeting where delegates from the same industry or occupation come together to learn, network, and exchange ideas.
Conference
A large meeting of people who share an interest in the same industry or hobby. An example would be Comic-Con.
Convention
A display of items such as art, livestock, and technology. An example would be the Canadian National.
Exhibition
A special event with a theme, an example would be World’s.
Fair
A public celebration centred on a theme of local, regional, or national interest or importance. An example would be Celtic Festival.
Festival
A public event that encourages people to participate in order to raise money for a specific cause or organization.
Fundraising Event
A significant occasion that brings tourists from around the world to a destination and has a huge economic impact on the community.
Hallmark Event
A meeting in which participants share ideas, knowledge, and expertise under the supervision of a leader or presenter.
Seminar
A one-time or infrequently occurring event outside the normal program or activities of the sponsoring or organizing body.
Special Event
A sporting event that has audience appeal. An example is baseball or basketball.
Spectator Sporting Event
An international meeting of high-level government leaders.
Summit
A marketing and sales tool used by many industries to display and sell their products.
Trade Show
