Demography
is the statistical study of populations, especially human beings.
Age Structure
A term used to indicate that an increasing proportion of a society’s population is becoming elderly.
Survivorship
curve is the graphic representation of the number of individuals in a population that can be expected to survive to any specific age.
Fertility Rate
the total fertility rate (TFR) that maintains a stable population size. the rate of change in a population’s size resulting from birth and death rates alone, excluding migration.
Migration
is the large-scale movement of members of a species to a different environment.
Life Expectancy
The estimated average number of years (or other time period used as a measure) that an individual of a specific age can expect to live.
Demographic Transition
theory is a generalised description of the changing pattern of mortality, fertility and growth rates as societies move from one demographic regime to another.
Infrastructure
infrastructure that provides cities and towns with water supply, waste disposal, and pollution control services.
Arable Land
is, according to one definition, land capable of being ploughed and used to grow crops.
Urbanization
refers to the increasing number of people that live in urban areas.
Least Developed Countries
are low-income countries confronting severe structural impediments to sustainable development.
