Enabling Statutes
How Congress delegate authority to administrative agencies. These agencies are under the control of the executive branch.
4th Branch of Government
Administrative agencies perform legislative (drafting regulations), judicial (ALC), and executive functions (enforcing regulations)
Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
Contains all of the final administrative regulation. Published annually.
Federal Register
Daily newspaper containing all of the proposed and final administrative regulations as well as executive orders and executive proclamations.
California Administrative Code (CAR)
Contains all of the final administrative regulations. Many will refer to as CCR (California Code of Regulations).

Organized by 50 topics. Must first identify the agency and then brainstorm words to look up in the index.

Federal Register includes a list of CFR sections that have been modified, updated, removed or changed in anyway

Organized by 28 topics. Published in hard copy and is a database in Westlaw.

Administrative Law Judge (ALJ)
Hears cases involving the application of a particular regulation.
