What is open cut mining?
A
Open cut is when the ore body is close to the surface. Open cut mining is also know as surface mining.

A
Underground mining is used if the ore body is deep, fairly concreted and confined to small space or in narrow veins.

- much cheaper
- not as dangerous
- easier to operate
- useful when the recourse is spread across a wide area.
