What are extrusive igneous rocks?

A

Extrusive igneous rocks form above ground and have no or small crystals due to the rapid cooling of the lava.

What is intrusive igneous rocks?

A

Intrusive igneous rocks contain larger interlocking crystals. These crystals are a result of magma cooling slowly below ground

What do you use igneous rock for?

A

Basalt: buildings,concrete, floor tiles
Dolerite: road surfaces, concrete
Granite: Buildings, monuments road surfaces, kitchen bench tops
Pumice: cleaning dead skin off feet, emery boards for sharpening nails, some soaps that feel rough on your skin
Obsidian: scalpel blades for surgery, ornaments and jewellery, spear and arrow points, pots and vases
