Q

Know intellectual disciplines model

A
30
Q

Why is humility at the core of this graphic on Intellectual Disciplines.

A

Because without humility an individual will be unable to have an open mind toward learning something new and growing.

31
Q

What have we learned about our God-given gifts that parallel the curriculumโ€™s teaching about the three disciplines that make up the core of our intellectual strengths?

A

Discovery is the manner in which we IDENTIFY our gifts; Process is the manner in which we SHARPEN our gifts; Application is the manner in which we APPLY our gifts to the needs of the age.

32
Q

Draw the graphic about how PRIDE inhibits the development of our intellectual strengths and explain how the two factors that surround PRIDE inhibit us from growing intellectually.

A

Pride in this scenario is a mind set where the individual will stubbornly hold on to their viewpoint, and is the opposite of having humility and being open to new ideas. Thinking in stereotypes and surrounding oneself with sycophants allows an individual to dig in and protect their selfish viewpoint and doesnโ€™t challenge that their viewpoint is incorrect. โ€ข Thinking in stereotypes allows the person to make overly simplified statements and jokes, such as โ€œrich people onlyโ€ฆ..โ€, โ€œchurch people onlyโ€ฆ..โ€, โ€œno one really caresโ€ฆโ€, etc. to reinforce the way they already think. โ€ข Sycophants are individuals who agree with/donโ€™t challenge the stereotypical statements and laugh at all the jokes which reinforces the way they already think.

33

What is the pride model?

(sycophants ( stereotypical thinking (pride)))
