Area immediately adjacent to the fire

Describe the secondary search.
Slow, methodical, and complete. Typically done after main fire is knocked down. Down by a different crew who did the primary
What are the team positions for large area search?
Anchor - Calls out rings and knots
Captain - TIC and spare battery
Searcher 1 and 2 - 20’ tag lines
How far should the rope be off the ground, and where shall it be secured?
2’ off the ground and tied off 10’ outside the structure
How are the rings orientated?
Rings will always lead you out.
When do you use the fan search technique?
When you are with out a TIC
What should the PAR include for large area search?
Company Identifier
Number of personnel
Lowest crew member air reading
Distance into the building by rings and knots
What is the 1/3rd rule?
1/3 for entry
1/3 for egress
1/3 for reserve
What is the max distance you should be in a structure on a large area search rope?
200’ max, don’t connect another search rope together
