How is ventilation defined?
Systematic removal of the products of combustion, and introduction of fresh, clean, cool air into the fire building
Vent for fire -
Coordination with the fire attack team, aims at decreasing flashover or back draft
Vent for life -
Using horizontal and vertical ventilation to lift the smoke off of the civilians
What is a heat hole?
Hole as close to over the fire as possible
What are some warning signs of a compromised roof?
Hook penetrates the roof easily Melted tar or comp shingles Sagging roof decking Spongy roof Flames around roof vents Growing vent pipes

1 Tap - Stop and set brake
2 Tap - Cut
3 Tap - Get off the roof
