Who establishes the project team in a landscape project?

What factors does a project manager consider when determining project composition?

Who is considered the owner in a landscape project?
The person who initiates a project and takes dominion over it
What is the role of a contractor/consultant?
Hired by the owner to provide labor and/or services needed to complete a project
Define subcontractor/subconsultant.
Hired by contractor/consultant to provide extra services needed, such as an irrigation designer
What is a sole proprietorship?
A business owned by one person, with no legal separation between the owner and the business
What is a silent partner?
A business investor who does not participate in day-to-day management
What defines a limited partnership?
A business with at least one general partner and one or more limited partners
What is a joint venture?
A business arrangement where two or more companies work together to achieve a specific goal
What is a corporation?
A legal entity that is separate and distinct from its owners
What is an S-corporation?
A corporation that elects to be taxed as a pass-through entity
What is the purpose of a contract?
Sets forth obligations of each party and specifies duties and responsibilities

What is a fixed fee/lump sum in contract terms?
A predetermined amount of money for completing the scope of services
What is an hourly fee structure?
Used when the amount of work cannot be estimated, with a limit placed on costs
What is a multiplier fee?
Estimates hours required and multiplies by hourly pay rates, incorporating overhead and profit
What is the percentage of construction fee structure?
Takes the client’s construction budget and multiplies it by a percentage rate to determine design fee
What is included in the proposal process?
- Request for information (RFI)
- Statements of Interest (SOI)

What does an RFI do?
Requests that interested design firms reply with a statement of interest

A comprehensive submission to the owner including information about the design firm and key staff
