Chapter 8 Flashcards
What is the Danielus Miller also known as
Cross table lateral or surgical lateral
When is the Danielus Miller Method used
When the patient is unable to frog leg - usually in the recovery room or in surgery for ortho hardware placement
What is the respiration phase for all hip & pelvis projections
Stop breathing
AP Pelvis field size & orientation
14 x 17 crosswise
AP Pelvis rotation
No rotation in pelvis but lower limbs need to be rotated 15 - 20 degrees medially
What is shown in profile when AP Pelvis is done correctly
Greater Trochanter
AP Pelvis CR
2 inches inferior ASIS & 2 inches superior pubic symphysis
What is the difference between a female vs male pelvis
Female pelvis is wider/shorter while a male pelvis is narrower/taller
Male pubic symphysis is more acutely angled
IR positioning for Danielus Miller Method
Upper boarder of IR placed in crease above Iliac Crest - angle lower boarder away from body until IR is parallel with the femoral neck.
When positioning the hip what are your two anatomic landmarks to use
ASIS
Pubic Symphysis
CR entrance point for Judet Method w an internal oblique
2 inches inferior ASIS of effected side
CR entrance point Judet Method w an external oblique
Pubic symphysis
Where does the Ilia articulate with the sacrum
At the Sacroiliac joints - auricular surface
IR for AP hip with proximal femur
Perpendicular to femoral neck
Posterior distal femur, condyles are separated by what
Intercondylar fossa
