Chapter 7 Vocabulary Flashcards
The intersection of the lines that connect each point of the image with the corresponding point of the preimage.
Center of Dilation
The point inside a circle that is the same distance from every point on the circle.
Center of a Circle
The set of points in a plane that are a fixed distance from a given point called the center of the circle.
Circle
A transformation in which the lines connecting every point P with its image P’ all intersect at a point C known as the center of dilation, and CP’/CP is the same for every point P other than C ; a transformation that changes the size of a figure but not it’s shape.
Dilation
A segment whose endpoints are the center of a circle and a point on the circle; the distance from the center of a circle to any point on the circle.
Radius of a Circle
The multiplayer used on each dimension to change one figure into a similar figure.
Scale Factor
The ratio of linear measurements in the preimage to corresponding measurements in the image in a pair of similar figures.
Similarity Ratio
Two polygons whose corresponding angles are congruent and whose corresponding side lengths are proportional.
Similar Polygons
A transformation that produces similar figures.
Similarity Transformation
A three-sided polygon
Triangle
Angles in the same position in two different polygons that have the same number of angles.
Corresponding Angles of Polygon
Sides in the same position in two different polygons that have the same number of sides.
Corresponding Sides of Polygons
