Ford
Continuous production
Highly automated manufacture that runs continuously
Involves high setup costs
But economies of scale due to enormous volumes produced
Cola
Just in time production
Different components arriving precisely on time when needed
Production organised so that the supply of materials is simultaneous with the need
Less money needed for storage space
However late deliveries of goods stopping production line
Electronic data Interchange
The transfer of electronic files between manufacturer, suppliers and customers, speeding up orders and efficiency
