Chapter 7 Pesticides In The Environment Flashcards

1
Q

How to prevent pesticide drift

A
  • can avoid most spray drift problems by paying close attention to spray droplet size, wind direction and wind speed
  • Thickness of the liquid also affect droplet size
~ thickness increase so does droplet size thus reducing the chance of off-target movement
  • Spraying when wind speed is between 3 to 10 mph
  • Spraying downwind form sensitive areas
  • Using proper nozzles and pressures
  • Using drift control additive (if appropriate)
  • Lowering boom height
  • leaving an untreated border or buffer area in the downwind target area
