- do not use footwear used for applying pesticides for anything else
- Do not wear work footwear home
3 work practices for correct use of eyewear
- Minimum eyewear is safety glasses with shields at the front, brow and temple.
- If goggles are required have an eyewash dispenser immediately available
- Consult an eye doctor if you wear contact lenses
Explain the importance of wearing respiratory protection devices approved by the National Institute of Health for Occupied Safety and Health (NIOSH)
- NIOSH certifies that respirators have been tested according to certain standards
- approval of a respirator indicated that it’s protected the wear against specified contaminants
When to replace particulate filters
- Discard when filters before soiled/dry
- If there are no other use directions dispose of filters at the end of 8 hours of cumulative use
When to replace chemical cartridges
Dispose of at the end of the workday unless the manufacturer directs otherwise

- Important to have annual fit test
- Whenever you use a different respirator face piece
- whenever something physically changes that could affect the fit of the respirator
Seal Check for Tight Fitting Respirator
- every time you put on your mask to make sure that its properly seated on your face
- Ensures that all inhalation and exhalation valves are functioning properly
How to dispose of PPE when necessary
- heavy contaminated items as household hazardous waste
- Disposable garments (coveralls) need to be made unusable and discarded
