Q
  1. Describe the structure of chloroplasts and indicate where the chlorophyll molecules are located. Explain how carbon dioxide and oxygen move in and out of leaves.
A
  • chloroplasts are only found in plants
  • Chloryphyll is what absorbs light and the green pigment within the plant
  • Thylakoid-is where the photosynthesis process happens
  • when everything is stacked together is called the Grana
  • The co2 and 02 move in and out of the leaves through the stromata

Q
  1. Explain how the process of photosynthesis is similar to the reverse of cellular respiration.
A

Photosynthesis creates the glucose to go into cellular respiration and the respiration creates ATP to into phtosynthesis

Q
  1. Compare the reactants and products of the light reactions and the Calvin cycle. Discuss the location in which enzymes are used. Discuss the source of the oxygen produced during the light reactions.
A
  • light dependent produces photosynthesis
  • The products of one is the reactants of the other, vice versa
  • The reactions(charged forms) that go into light dependent are water, light ADP, NAD+
  • produces NADPH, ATP, and NAD
  • water comes from oxygen

Q
  1. Describe the reactants and products of the Calvin cycle. Explain why this cycle is dependent on the light reactions. Discuss the steps needed to produce 1 glucose molecule. Predict the effect of application of a pesticide on the Calvin cycle and the products produced by this cycle.
A

without the light the calvin cycle would not happen
