Cell
The basic unit of structure and function in all living things
Anatomy
The study of the form and structure of an organism
Cell membrane
The outer , protective covering of cell
Centrosome
Organelle located in the cytoplasm; helps cell division by creating an even division of the chromosomes
Chromatin
Located inside the nucleus; made of DNA and protein.
Connective tissue
The supporting structure of organs and other body parts
Cytoplasm
A semi-fluid inside the cell but outside the nucleus; organelles are found in the cytoplasm
Dehydration
Insufficient amount of tissue fluid
Edema
An excessive amount of fluid; causes swelling of the tissues
Endoplasmic reticulum
A fine network of tubular structure located in the transport of materials in/out of the nucleus; aids storage/synthesis of materials
Epithelial tissue
Covers the surface of the body & the main tissue of the skin (largest organ)
Genes
Unit of heredity transfer from parents to offspring; determines some characteristics of the offspring
Genome
The total mass of genetic instruction that humans Inherit from parents.
Golgi apparatus
A sac of membrane layers located in the cytoplasm: produces,stores and packages secretions for discharge from the cell,
Lysosomes
The round bodies found throughout the cytoplasm that contain digestive enzymes “suicide sacs”
