What is a neuron?
The neuron is the functional cell of the nervous system.
What are the major functions of the neuron?
To get messages out to cells, and to get messages from cells.
Describe the structure of the neuron.
The neuron has branch like structures on each end, one called dendrites and the other called a terminal. On the outside of the dendrites there is the cell body, and on the inside the nucleus lies. In the middle of a neuron, there are pill looking objects called an axon.
What are neurotransmitters?
They are also known as chemical signals. They are moved from the axon to the receptors.
What is the CNS? What does it do?
It is called the Central Nervous System. It regulates our entire communication that goes on in our bodies.
