- Seasonal Affective Disorder (Depression >2 yrs in short daylight hours)
- Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (Depressive symptoms before menstruation)
Types of bipolar disorders (4)
- Bipolar I (full mania, depression and hypomania not necessary for >1 wk)
- Bipolar II (cannot have full mania, must have hypomania and depression)
- Cyclothymic Disorder (hypomania and depression fluctuations over >2 yrs)
- Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (children, 3 outbursts per wk for >1 yr)

Depression results from life stress that reduces positive reinforcement (e.g. learned helplessness theory)
