Chapter 7 Flashcards
➢This method is usually practiced for rainfed and deepwater ecosystems.
➢Farmers sow onto dry soil surface, then incorporates the seed either by plowing or harrowing.
Broadcasting
Precision equipment, such as the Turbo Happy Seeder, can be used to drill seeds.
1. Drill 80−100 kg of seeds per ha.
2. Seeds are placed by the machine
into both dry and moist soil, and
then irrigated.
3. In this technique, fertilizers can be applied at the same time as the seed.
Drilling
A hill planting is usually practiced
along mountain slopes or where
plowing and harrowing are
difficult.
Dibbling
Using a seeders are used for fast
planting. It operates best on a
well-leveled, smooth, and wet
seedbed.
Drum Seeding
– Receptacles of the seeds to be sown. Rotates with the wheel axle
Seed drums
– Perforations on the drums, where the seeds are dispensed as the wheels rotate when pulled.
Metering holes
- Seed drums are rotated by the motion of the ground wheel without slippage to get a uniform and
desired seed rate.
Ground wheel
– length axle of the 2 wheels and where the seeds drums are also attached.
Main shaft
- type of planting equipment that accurately drops the seeds or group of seeds in equidistant spaces along a furrow (PNS/PAES ____;____).
Precision Rice Seeder (PNS/PAES 171:2015)
• Type of self-propelled rice
precision seeder that allows operator to ride on the machine during
operation.
• Can be used for dry and wet field planting
Riding Type
• Type of rice precision seeder
which is pulled by a four-wheel
tractor
• Usually used for dry field
planting
Tractor Attachment
A machine that involves planting young rice seedlings
into the puddled soil
Mechanical Rice Transplanter
controls the transfer of power
to all power-needed parts
Main clutch lever
used to lift or down the machine
Hydraulic clutch lever
gear settings: Reverse, Neutral
Transplanting and Transport
