Salvation History
Pattern of specific events in human history in which God clearly reveals his presence and saving actions. Salvation was accomplished once and for all through Jesus Christ, a truth foreshadowed and revealed throughout the Old testament.
High Priest
This person led the religious services and conducted animal sacrifices held at the Temple in Jerusalem. The high priest was appointed by the Jewish king with the approval of the Roman governor.
Levites
Members of the Hebrew tribe of Levi, from whom came the priests who performed the sacrifices and led the worship of the Jewish Temples
Sacrifice
A ritual offering made to God by a priest on behalf of the people as a sign of adoration, gratitude and communion. The perfect sacrifice was Christ’s death on the cross.
Old Covenant
The covenant between God and the ancient people of Israel established in the Sinai Covenant with Moses; also called the Old Testament.
New Covenant
The covenant of law established by God in Jesus Christ to fulfill and prefect the Old Covenant of Mosaic law. It is the perfection on Earth of the Divine law. The law of the New Covenant is called a law of love, grace, and freedom. The new Covenant will never end or diminish, and nothing new will be revealed until Christ comes again in glory.
