Byzantine empire reached its height. Strongman ruler who expected all subjects to submit to his heirarchy. wife Theodora was a true co-ruler.

The party of Ali. They believe Ali and his descendants were Muhammad’s only rightful successors.
Sunnis
Followers of the “Sunna” tradition. Emphasized loyalty to the fundamental principles of Islam.
