Why did King Phillip II of Spain want to invade England?
He wanted to overthrow Elizabeth and restore Catholicism in England
How did the Netherlands fracture Spains and England relationship even further?
Spain was in control of the Netherland and was at war with Protestant rebels. Elizabeth became the protector of the Dutch rebels in 1585 and sent troops to help the rebellion sending Spain and England into undeclared war.
What was the Spanish Armada?
The Spanish Armada was the Spanish military that Phillip II was going to to attack and invade England.

The Spanish Armada contained 130 ships 30,000 men 1900 guns and cannons 17,000 trained troops in the Netherlands

What happened to the Armada?
The Armada travelled up the English channel and were attacked by fire ships in calais.
Strong wind pushes the armada up to Gravelines where the battle of Gravelines takes place and the Spanish have a crushing defeat.
The wind forced the weak armada north where many get wrecked as they travel around Scotland and Ireland to head back home.
Very few ships make it back to Spain.

How did the weather effect the Armada?
It pushed the ships north causing wrecks and it meant that the ships would run low on supplies as they were nowhere were they could resupply
