Chapter 6:Speed Flashcards
What are the two units of speed?
Km/h and m/s
What is an instantaneous speed?
It is the speed at the specific moment it was measured.
What is precision?
It is how may significant figures a measurement has.
What is accuracy?
It is how correct a measurement is
How long does it typically take for the brain to process info?
0.2 seconds
How do you calculate acceleration?
Final speed - Starting speed / time
What are two examples of automatic timers.
Timing gates and light gates
What is terminal velocity?
It is when the moving force = air resistance (max speed)
What is a categoric variable?
It is a variable that is words, not numbers
What is a discrete variable?
It is a variable that is a whole number
What is a continuous variable?
It’s a variable that can take any number in a graph.
What is a balanced force?
It refers to an object which experiences 0 net force.
What is a resultant/net force?
It is the force after all forces are subtracted by their opposite forces
Does a force need to be applied to an object moving at a steady speed?
No
What is friction?
It’s a force that acts in the opposite direction of movement
