Chapter 4: Charging up Flashcards
What is charge?
It’s a property that determines electrostatic forces.
What is an electrical field?
It’s a field in which an object experiences a force from charge
What is a conductor?
It’s an object that allows charge to flow easily through it.
Why can’t conductors be charged?
Charge flows through them too quick.
What are two cells called?
A battery
How many milliamps (mA) make an amp?
1mA =0.001A
What are ions?
They are atoms that have lost electrons.
What is a series circuit?
It’s a circuit with components joined in a loop
What is resistance to charge?
It’s a measure of how much a electrical component slows charge.
Does electricity get consumed in a circuit?
No
What is a spark?
It’s charge that moves through air.
What is risk?
It’s a combination of the probability of a result and the consequence of it.
What is earthing?
It’s the process of conducting electricity to the ground.
