Chapter 6 page 1 Flashcards
Photosynthesis
Converts energy from the sun to Chemical energy sugars.
Respiration
Converts Chemical Energy in sugars into ATP.
Autotrophs
- Producers.
- Organism that makes their own food. Usually with photosynthesis.
Autotrophs examples
- Plants
- Some Prokaryotes
Heterotrophs
- Consumers
- Obtains food molecules from the environment.
Heterotrophs Examples
- Us (Humans)
- Animals
Energy flows through ecosystem
Energy Enters as sunlight and exits as heat.
Photosynthesis equation=
Carbondioxide + Water->->-> Sugar + Oxygen
Respiration equation=
Sugars+ Oxygen ->->->-> Carbondioxide + Water
Aerobic Respiration
Requires Oxygen
Almost all Cellular Respiration is Aerobic (most efficient)
Equation for Cellular Respiration
C6H1206 + 6O2 ->->-> 6CO2 + 6H2O +32ATP
Equation for Cellular Respiration
Occurs in many small steps
24 Steps.
