1) Objective: Continue further development of the ability to produce music using the voice or an instrument in small groups or individually.
Procedures: Explore and experiment with classroom instruments, piano or keyboard labs, guitar or ukulele labs, electronic equipment including synthesizers and computers.

2) Objective: Continue to develop reading skills and use of music notation.
Procedures: Explore a variety of approaches to reading notation; follow a printed score; participate in directed experiences with highlighted themes, harmonic movement, rhythm patterns on overhead transparencies, chart, or computer program.

3) Objective: Play and or sign examples of scales, intervals, and chords as they occur in the musical examples studied and composed.
Procedures: Select brief sections as examples of scale or chord patterns; produce scale or broken chord patterns vocally or on an instrument.

2) Objective: Arrange simple pieces of music for instruments, voices, or synthesizers.
Procedures: Select simple canon for experimentation with arranging; or develop a three-part arrangement of a folk-song melody.

3) Objective:Improvise a solo around a familiar melody vocally or instrumentally.
Procedures: Examine a key, scale, or simple harmonic progression to determine tonal center and chord members; follow by creating a simple improvisation on the progression.
