describle Old forest. what is going on with the trees? what one word does merry use to explain what the trees do
it is said to be queer and that everything in it is alive. merry says the trees watch people and the unfriendly ones can reach out a branch drop it to hurt someone. they watch people contently
what direction were they headed when they lost clear sense of direction ?what directionn are they headed in now
they were headed eastwards. they go eastwards and southwards into the old forest
what are something they encounter or overcame on their journey through the forest
river withywindle,. the burning heat, armies of flies, fighting off sleepiness.
what happened when they fell asleep on the roots of the tree (except Sam)
they trees’ roots caved pippin and merry in the roots, then frodo was thrown in the water and sam saved him as the tree was over him. merry and pippin-they were gripped by the trees into their cracks when they opened up and closed them in
who saved merry and pippin. describe him
tom bombadil, he was a man that came hopping to them in a loud manner. he was not small enough for a hobbit but he had a blue coat and a long beard. his face was red as he laughed carrying a tray of water lillies. tom invites the hobbits for supper at his house
what is different about this area of the forest
there were no tall trees. the groundwas smooth with the grass. they seemed entranced in a dream when they reached this part of the country.
