Communities of practice (CoP’s)
Social model whose basic claim is that learning, innovation, and collaboration are social processes
The CoPs model
It claims that since learning, innovation, and collaboration are social processes, enhancing knowledge creation and sharing in groups can be achieved through social means

Used for reflecting on an activity which has reached a key stage, making “tacit” knowledge explicit during the life of a project or activity

Used for evaluating an event which is to be repeated where it would be useful to identify what can be improved for next time
Knowledge audit
Used for understanding the knowledge environment of an organization in order to identify and deal with knowledge gaps.
Knowledge café
Used for keeping up-to-date with relevant issues in a constantly changing environment
Knowledge bank
Used for providing easy and on-going access to mass of accumulated knowledge, leading practice etc
Knowledge exchange/exit interviews
Used for occasions when there is risk of losing knowledge because of a staff member leaving an organisation or a team or project.
Peer assist
Used for direct knowledge transfer from individuals to others.
Retrospective review
Used for evaluation at the end of a project or activity to review what happened.
Rapid evidence review
Used for establishing the baseline for a project prior to starting it or at regular key stages.
Community of practice
Used for bringing together a network of individuals with common challenges who need to explore new ways of working.
