What is the Formative research approach?
Research done at the start of the campaign planning process to form a plan
What is the Evaluation research approach?
- Research carried out to examine the quality of preparation, implementation as well as the impact of the plan
- Can take place at any time during the 4 Phases of Planning
What are formal (quantitative) research methods?
- Chance and chance alone guides the selection of the sample.
What are informal (qualitative) research methods?
- Not based on a random, representative sample.
- Used to capture the qualities of people’s thoughts and opinions.
- Results are not representative of the entire population
What is the important distinction between formal and informal research methods?
- Quantitative captures hard data
- Qualitative captures emotions and feelings
What must be necessary for a random sample to be random?
Each unit in the population has an equal chance of being selected
What is casual research?
Information gathered without any systematic plan (talking to colleagues, reading files)
