Tell me about another type of igneous rock

A

Another type of igneous rock is granite. It is a coarse - grained rock of different colours (white, grey, black). It was formed when magma cooled down under the surface of the earth. It has large Crystals (which can be seen clearly) because it cooled down slowly.

Uses: buildings and kitchen worktops

E.g wicklow Mts.

State one example of an igneous rock

A

One example of an igneous rock is basalt. it is a fine grained rock, mostly black or dark grey - formed when lava cooled down on surface of earth. Small crystals formed because it cooled down quickly.

Uses: buildings and roads

E.g: giants causeway co. Antrim
