Main Point Questions
-Asks you to summarize the author’s point of view– Many main point problems feature a structure that places the conclusion either at the beginning or the middle of the stimulus
Question stem example: “ Which one of the following most accurately expresses the main conclusion of the argument?”
Two incorrect answer types:
- Answers that are true but not encapsulate the author’s point
- Answers that repeat the premises of the argument
Neither summarizes the author’s main point and therefore both are incorrect
Main Point- Fill in the Blank questions
-Your are asked to fill in the conclusion if the argument
- In every case, you should fill the blank with the answer choice that best represents the main point of the argument
Question stem example:
“Therefore, ____”
“Thus, it seems quite likely that in the near future ____”
