Chapter 5 (learning) Flashcards
Operand conditioning
Learning from consequence.
Punisher
Any event or consequences of that decreases the probability of a behavior happening again
Positive Reinforcement
Reinforcement that adds something to the environment
Negative Reinforcement
Reinforcement that removes something to the environment
Unconditioned Response
A response that is not learned, that is instead happens automatically - a reflex action.
Conditioned Stimuli
A stimulus that elicits a new response as a result of the learning processs
Conditioned Response
A new response by a previously neutral stimulus due to the learning process
Stimulus generalization
When a stimulus that is similar to, but not identical with, the conditioned stimulus elicits a conditioned response.
Stimulus Discrimination
When we learn to make a particular response only to one of several similar stimuli
Extinction
When a conditioned stimulus is repeatedly presented without the UCS (and the behavior stops)
Primary Reinforcer
Basic Human need
Secondary reinforcer
Things learned by association i.e. $
Observational learning
Learning by observation
Albert Bandura
violent observations lead to violent tendencies
Cognitive learning
Learning through observation
