Himalayan Mountains
Highest mountains in the world. Made it difficult to enter India. Melting snow caused flooding which meant fertile soil. The Indus and Ganges rivers go thru the mountains.
Sub Continent
Big land but smaller than a continent. India is one.
Caste System
Society divided by birth, wealth, and occupation. Your caste determines your role in society.
Hinduism
Blended the Brahmanism religion with other cultures.
- It is the largest religion in India today.

Buddhism
A religion based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama.

Siddhartha Gautama
Founder of ISLAM religion. Raised a Hindu. Went on a journey to find the meaning of life. He fasted and meditated and found “enlightenment” under a tree. His life was dedicated to teach how to be a muslim (follower of the Islam religion).
Karma
How your good or bad actions affect your soul and afterlife
Metallurgy
The science of working with metals that the ancient Indian people practiced.
Where is India?
South of the HIMALAYAN Mountains and the INDUS RIver between the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
In Aryan society, how did the caste system work?
The VARNAS (levels) divided people into groups and said who you could marry, touch, live with, work for, etc. The levels were the Brahmin, Kshatriyas, Vaisyas, Sundras.
What was the most important belief in the caste system?
Everyone has a dharma, or duty to fulfill so you have to accept your caste in life as the way the gods meant it to be.
