Question 1

“We’ve got to make smoke up there- or die.”

Answer 1

The boys know what they need to do, they just can’t do it.

Question 2

“Maybe there isn’t a beast…Maybe it’s only us.”

Answer 2

At leat one of the boys (Simon) is realising they are losing their humanity/sanity and is trying to explain to the other boys, but they won’t listen to him because they don’t want to face the dark truth that they’re not the same as they were when they first arrived on the island.

Question 3

“What are we? Humans?Or animals? Or savages? What’ grownups going to think?”

Answer 3

The boy’s are trying to decide if they are still sane enough to be human or if they’re completely savage and there’s no going back from.
