Roger has violent tendencies but he still appears civilised and civilisation still affects him. Roger was still influenced by Ralph and the conch.
“The mask compelled them.”
The beast is in everything, even the masks?
“Kill the pig.cut her throat, spill her blood.”
Golding has used female pronouns for the pig, because that’s the way the boys think. They don’t think men and women are equal, they think they are above everyone.
