Chapter 5 Flashcards
Condition stimulus
A neutral stimulus that, after repeated pairing with unconditioned stimulus, becomes associated with it and elicit a conditioned response
Classical conditioning
The type of learning through which an organism learns to associate one stimulus with another
Neutral stimulus
Elicits no response until it is repeatedly paired with the unconditioned stimulus
Unconditioned response
A response that is elicited by an unconditioned stimulus without prior learning
Unconditioned stimulus
The stimulus that elicits a specific unconditioned response without prior learning
Condition stimulus
A neutral stimulus that, after repeated pairing with unconditioned stimulus becomes associated with it and elicits a conditioned response
Negative reinforcement
The termination of an unpleasant condition after a response, which increases the probability that the response will be repeated
Positive punishment
A decrease in behavior that results from an added consequence
Positive reinforcement
Any Pleasant or desirable consequences that follows a response and increases the probability that the response will be repeated
Negative punishment
A decrease in behavior that results from a removed consequence
