Chapter 5 Flashcards
Sizing Procedures in Pumps/
are used to transfer fluids from one location to another by increasing the pressure of the fluid and thereby, supplying the driving force which is needed to flow.
pumps
most widely used in chemical industries capacity ranging from 0.5 to 2x10+4m3/h and can provide discharge head from a few meters
Centrifugal pumps
achieve its maximum head by the power actually available for the driver working on the fluid
Positive displacement pumps
Types of reciprocating pumps
-single cylinder
-multiple cylinders
utilizes the momentum of one fluid to transport the desired attained is low and less than the head of the fluid used for pumping.
jet pumps
a special type utilizing steam in which the head to be pumped is discharged at the same pressure as that of the steam being used.
steam injector
utilize the principle that a conductor in a magnetic field
-Electromagnetic pumps
