Chapter 5 Flashcards
HUMAN MOVEMNET SYSTEM
The Nervous System is composed of what 3 parts?
Dendrit, axil, cell body
Central nervous system
Brain and Spine
Peripheral nervous system
The nerves that connect the CNS to the rest of the body and external environments
Everything coming out of the spinal column; mechanoreceptors
Mechanoreceptors
MUSCLE SPINDLE; think stretch
GOLGI TENDON ORGAN; foam roll tension
JOINT RECEPTORS; joint receptors
3 stages of learning
cognitive: Learning
Associative: begnning to understand
Autonomous : learned skill no thought
axial vs appendicular
Axial Skeleton is composed of the bones in your head, neck, back, and chest and the appendicular skeleton is everything else or the bones that attach to the axial.
The skeletal system consists of how many bones, and how many are appendicular vs axial
206 Bones
126 Appendicular
80 axial
osteoblast
bone-building cells
builds bone tissue back up
B= BLAST builds up
osteonclasts
Break down your bone tissue
CL = CLEAVE destroys bone tissue
longest human bone
femur
Smallest Human Bone
Inner Ear
incu, malleus, stapes
ligament
connects bone to bone
Glycogen
storage form of glucose in muscles
Sarcomere
Section of the fiber muscle that contains all of the filaments necessary to cause muscle contractions. Where muscle contractions begin.
Myofibrils
Protein fibers that makeup muscle fibers
Actin
Thin filaments in the sarcomere
Myosin
Thick filaments in the sarcomere
Z-line
Meeting point of each sacromere
Sliding Filament Theory
Muscle contractions involving actin and myosin sliding past each other, shortening the muscle during concentric muscle contractions
Type 1 muscle fiber
- Contains more capillaries, mitochondria, and myoglobin.
- increased oxygen delivery
- smaller in size
- less force produced
- slow to fatigue
- long term contraction (stabilization)
- slow twitch `
Type 2 Muscle fiber
- Fewer capillaries, mitochondria, and myoglobin.
- Decreased oxygen delivery
- Larger in Size
- More force produced
- Quick to fatigue
- Short-term contraction (force and Power)
- Fast Twitch
Capillaries
Smallest Blood Vessels and the site of exchange between the blood and the tissue.
Synovial Joints
