How can we ensure the patient receives the right medication when dispensing?
Check identity, and show all medications to the patient
How long must patient records be obtained?
10 years past the last date the patient recieved pharmacy services, or if the patient is a child, until the patients 20th birthday
Do prescriptions for narcotics need to be kept separate from the regular prescriptions? What about targeted substances? What about benzos?
Separate narcotics, and targeted substances. Benzos can be stored with regular or narcotic prescriptions
How long must written prescriptions be kept for past the last date of any activity regarding the prescription?
2 years (24 months)
Do pharmacies need to keep physical copies of the prescriptions, or can it be kept digitally?
Can be digital, pharmacies are no longer required to to retain paper prescriptions
How long must written prescriptions be kept past the date they are handed in to the pharmacy?
