Chapter 4 Vocabulary Flashcards
a process in which one or more substances are converted into one or more different ones
Chemical Reaction
everything on the left of a chemical formula
Reactants
everything on the right of the chemical formula
Products
g
gas
aq
Aqueous (dissolved in water)
l
liquid
s
solid
we are not destroying atoms, so we must make sure the number of atoms in the products must equal the number of atoms in the reactants
Balancing
the coefficient in a chemical equation specify the relative amounts in mols of each of the substances involved in the reaction
Stoichometry numbers
the reagents that limits the amount of product that can be produced (the reactant that runs out first)
Limiting Reactants / reagents
amount of product that can be made in a chemical reaction based on the limiting reactant
Theoretical yield
