What is turning affects?
When a force causes an object to rotate or would make the object rotate if there were no resistive forces.
What is pivot?
The fixed point about which a lever turns; also known as the fulcrum.
What is the definition of moment?
The turning effect of a force about a pivot, given by force x perpendicular distance from the pivot.
What is equilibrium?
When the forces are balanced (no resultant force)
The turning effects of the forces on it must also be balance (no resultant turning effect).
What is the equation for moment of force?
moment of force = force x perpendicular distance from the pivot.
What is the principle of moments?
When an object is in equilibrium, the sum of an anticlockwise moments about any point equals the sum of clockwise moments about the same point.
